The Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH) is seeking an archaeology programs assistant to serve in Historic Preservation. This individual is responsible for creating and reviewing documentation concerning the agency's commitment to identifying, registering, protecting, and disseminating information about archaeological sites in Mississippi. Key responsibilities for the archaeology programs assistant include reviewing Phase I archaeology reports, scopes of work, research designs, and cultural resource assessments in alignment with state and federal regulations. Additionally, the assistant is tasked with completing data entry in the archaeology report log, reviewing databases, coordinating with the site file manager for data entry and GIS needs, and providing assistance as required. Other duties include writing and editing cultural resource survey reports, conducting archaeological surveys as needed, participating in the planning and execution of public outreach initiatives and events, and performing various other duties as required.
