Postdoctoral position: Archaeology of Archaic Period Hunter-Gatherer Complexity in the American Southeast

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate to conduct research on Archaic period hunter-gatherer complexity in the American Southeast. The anticipated start date for this position is August 15, 2024 for an initial term of 12 months, with the potential for an 18-month extension. The successful applicant will assist in implementing a NSF-funded research program at the Poverty Point site and conducting research at contemporary sites. Individuals with skills and experience in Southeastern archaeology, environmental archaeology, or geoarchaeology are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a PhD in anthropological archaeology or prehistory, prior archaeological field experience and fewer than 30 months of prior postdoctoral work; PhD must be in-hand at the time of appointment.
