Position – Lead Bioarchaeologist, University of Mississippi Medical Center

The Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) has an exceptional set of circumstances requiring a bioarchaeologist with extensive field and laboratory experience to lead the excavation of a historic cemetery on the UMMC campus. The primary responsibility is to direct the archaeological component of the Asylum Hill Project (AsylumHillProject.org) which includes excavation of at least 4000 burial sites and the curation of the skeletal remains as well as the development of field schools. This project is a 12mo/year operation taking a minimum of 5 to 7 years to complete.
