Position – SRP Administrator

The Arkansas Archeological Survey invites applications for a permanent, full-time
position as Sponsored Research program (SRP) Administrator to begin as soon as
possible. The position is based at the Arkansas Archeological Survey Coordinating Office
in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Description: This is a full-time, 12-month appointment. The SRP Administrator works
closely with the Director and State Archeologist to manage projects funded by grants,
cooperative agreements with state and federal agencies, and other external sources. The
SRP Administrator coordinates with other professional staff members on project
development, implementation, and report production; with the Survey Registrar’s Office
on records and collection management; and with Educational Outreach and Publications
staff on developing outreach information and Popular Series publications based on
externally funded projects. Other duties include participating in the annual June training
program for amateurs sponsored by the Survey and the Arkansas Archeological Society,
and attending the Society’s annual meeting in September. In addition, the SRP
Administrator will provide technical support and advice to federal, state, and local
agencies, descendant communities, and members of the public as requested. The person
hired will have a research faculty title in the Department of Anthropology, University of
Arkansas-Fayetteville and can chair and serve on graduate committees. There is
opportunity for promotion, but Survey positions are not tenured. For information on the

Qualifications: A PhD in anthropology or archeology and publications, fieldwork and
research experience in North America east of the Rocky Mountains is required;
experience in grant writing, project management, public archeology, and educational
outreach is preferred.

Salary: Anticipated annual starting salary is $45,000 with full benefits. Starting date is
negotiable.
