The University of Iowa Office of the State Archaeologist seeks full time, temporary field technicians for all phases of archaeological fieldwork on various projects located across Iowa, beginning as early as March 2022 and running through November. They prefer, but do not require, experience with precontact (prehistoric) and postcontact (historic) site investigations including pedestrian surface survey and shovel testing, test unit and feature excavation, screening, soil description and other record keeping. A limited number of openings for lab work may follow or be concurrent with fieldwork, so experience with artifact processing and analysis is also desirable.
