The Center for Archaeological Research (CAR) at the University of Mississippi invites applications for a Research Associate position to begin during the 2016 Spring semester. The primary tasks associated with this position will include: (1) overseeing field projects in the southeastern US, (2) collecting and processing geophysical data, (3) overseeing an ongoing curation project that will involve cataloging, re-boxing, and curating the Center’s archaeological collections, (4) assisting with report writing and presentations, and (5) contributing to proposal and contract development.
Applicants must have a M.A. in anthropology or closely related field, archaeological field experience, and familiarity with the archaeological record of the Southeast. Desirable qualities also include experience with remote sensing and GIS, or a commitment to develop these skills. The salary for this position is $38,000.
